French telco regulator ARCEP has received applications for 4G licences in its 800MHz band from the same four major operators to which it granted licences in its 2.6GHz band in October.
The regulator said applicants – Bouygues Telecom, Free Fréquences, Orange France and SFR – can expect an answer within the coming weeks.
ARCEP called for applications for spectrum in the ultra high-speed mobile networks in June. The allocation of 800MHz spectrum, resulting from the digital dividend, followed a separate procedure and had a later deadline of 15 December.
France previously indicated it expected to raise at least €2.5bn from the spectrum sale, €1.8bn for the 800MHz bands and €700m for the 2.6GHz band. According to the regulator, the allocation of the 2.6 GHz band actually brought in €936m.
