France Telecom (FT) has received five “good quality” offers for Orange Switzerland and aims to announce the winning bidder early next year.
An FT spokesman confirmed to TelecomFinance that the offers are all “in line with [the company’s] expectations and, importantly, self-financed with certain funds”.
Meanwhile CVC, owner of mobile operator Sunrise, is not expected to be among the bidders, although the spokesperson declined to confirm this, refusing to discuss the names of the shortlisted bidders for Orange Switzerland. He did, however, reveal that bidders include industrial players.
The spokesman said FT hopes to reach a decision on the matter by the end of the year and sign with the winning bidder in early 2012.
The French incumbent hopes to reap €1.5bn to €2bn from the sale.
Orange Switzerland is the country’s third largest telecom in terms of market share, behind Swisscom and Sunrise.
