Telstra has appointed former AXA Asia Pacific chief executive Andrew Penn as its chief financial officer, the company announced.
Penn replaces John Stanhope, who leaves this month after more than four decades with the Australian telco.
UK-born Penn worked for life insurer AXA Asia Pacific for more than twenty years in a variety of finance, strategy and group executive roles, most recently as group chief executive. Previously, he worked in London with P&O Shipping.
Based in Melbourne, Penn will start his new role in March, with Mark Hall, Telstra’s current deputy CFO, filling the position in the interim.
Telstra chief executive David Thodey said he was delighted to welcome Penn to “this critical position”.
“Andy has extensive experience in Australia and overseas, a proven track record of success as a chief financial officer, and a demonstrated ability to create shareholder value in complex businesses,” he said.
