Telecom New Zealand has begun its search for a new chief executive to replace Paul Reynolds post-demerger.
The country’s biggest telecommunications company has started the recruitment process and, according to chairman Mark Verbiest, will consider both in-house and external candidates.
Reynolds signalled in August that he intended to step down once Telecom had successfully established itself as an independent network business.
The company completed its structural separation from the Chorus unit in November.
Telecom said Reynolds’ five-year tenure with the company will end in 2010, although there is no formal timeframe for his departure.
The company has not confirmed whether Reynold’s replacement will start before he leaves, but stressed that he or she will come on board during the next financial year.
“The board understands the importance of moving rapidly to recruit a new CEO to lead the business forward in a post-demerger environment,” Verbiest said.
