Ericsson chief technology officer, Hakan Eriksson, is set to take on a new role as head of the company’s business in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
Eriksson, also Ericsson’s senior vice president and head of the Silicon Valley business, will begin his new role on 1 February 2012. He will also leave the executive leadership team at this time.
The appointment of a new CTO will be announced separately.
Ericsson president and chief executive, Hans Vestberg, says Eriksson has been instrumental in expanding the company’s presence across numerous technologies, particularly in the 3G and 4G/LTE spaces.
“I am happy that he can now also bring his considerable experience directly to our customers in the very technologically advanced Australian and New Zealand markets,” he said.
