The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is reportedly planning to auction 3G spectrum in June 2012.
BTRC chief Zia Ahmed was quoted telling bdnews24.com that either PwC or Nera Economic Consulting will act as consultant on the auction.
He reportedly added that both local and foreign telcos will be allowed to bid for 3G frequencies.
Bangladesh is currently home to six mobile phone network operators: Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink, Citycell, Teletalk, and Airtel.
According to bdnews24.com, Teletalk, which was awarded a six-month test-run licence at the end of March, will not be required to take part in the auction but will have to pay the amount offered by the highest bidder to secure the licence.
The BTRC was not immediately available for comment before the press deadline.
