Only weeks after Azerbaijan’s leading mobile operators were granted 3G licences, they have now applied for 4G licences, according to reports on local website news.az.
Number one telco Azercell and number two Bakcell both submitted applications for a 4G licence to the country’s Communications and Information Technology Ministry.
Bakcell’s application was reportedly announced by the Deputy Communications Minister, Elmir Velizade, yesterday, while Azercell announced its application at a press conference today.
The third mobile operator in the country is Azerfon, which trades under the Nar Mobile brand. Azerfon was the first operator to implement 3G services in 2010.
