Denmark’s telecoms regulator has launched a consultation on plans to auction 4G spectrum in May 2012.
The Danish Telecommunications Authority plans to auction a total 2×30MHz of frequencies in the 791MHz-821MHz and 832MHz-862MHz spectrum bands for LTE technology.
It has proposed to auction these frequencies in five lots: one lot of 2×10MHz spectrum and four lots of 2×5MHz spectrum, with individual candidates unable to bid for more than 2×20MHz.
The consultation deadline for these proposed auction rules is 15 December 2011.
Denmark’s current four mobile operators are incumbent TDC, Norway’s Telenor,
Sweden’s TeliaSonera, and 3, which is owned by Hong-Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa.
