The board of US telecoms equipment maker Comtech Telecommunications has nominated two candidates to become board directors.
Stanton Sloane, president and CEO of Decision Sciences International Corp., has been nominated to replace Gerard Nocita, who will not be standing for re-election due to personal health reasons.
The board also nominated one incumbent director, Ira Kaplan. Kaplan has been a director at Comtech since 2002.
Comtech provides various communication services, using satellite-based and microwave technology, to governments and businesses.
In October, Reuters cited people familiar with the situation saying that Comtech was under pressure from one of its investors, the hedge fund MMI Investments LP, to evaluate a sale.
Comtech was reported to be working with Goldman Sachs on defence and strategic advice.
Reuters suggested then that the potential suitors for the company included BAE Systems, EADS, General Dynamics Corp, Harris Corp. and L-3 Communications.
According to a statement in September, MMI Investments holds a 3.3% stake in Comtech.
MMI also nominated two directors, Jerome Lande and Samme Thompson, for the Comtech board.
Comtech’s annual meeting of stockholders will take place on 18 January 2012.
