Canadian handset maker RIM has confirmed that its managing director for India, Frenny Bawa, has left the company in order to “pursue other interests”
Urpo Karjalainen, senior VP for Greater China, India and ANZ, will oversee the Indian business operations in the interim, RIM said in an emailed statement.
“RIM continues to be focused on supporting the robust growth of its business in India,” the company also stated.
In recent months, RIM has faced calls from investors to change its leadership structure, which currently involves it having two co-CEOs, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis.
RIM reported a net income of US$329m for the three months up to the end of August, compared to a figure of US$797m for the same period in the previous year.
