Five companies have made initial bids to acquire TK Telekom, the telecoms unit of the Polish state-owned railway company, Reuters reported citing unnamed sources.
The bidders include voice/internet services provider GTS, fixed-line providers Hawe, MNI Telecom and Netia, and the telecoms unit of power engineering company PGE (Exatel).
PKP confirmed to TelecomFinance that they had received bids, which will now be analysed by privatisation advisers. PKP would not give details of the companies or the number of bids received.
A spokeswoman for Exatel confirmed that the company had made a bid for TK Telekom, but would not give any further comments. GTS and Netia declined to comment. The other parties were not immediately available for comment.
The state holds a 52.09% stake in TK Telekom, while the rest of the company is held by the state-owned railway company, Polskie Koleje Panstwowe (PKP).
