Russian state-owned national operator Rostelecom aims to close the acquisition of mobile operator Sky Link this year.
According to Rostelecom press office, president Alexander Provotorov said: “We are also closely cooperating with Svyazinvest regarding the potential acquisition of Sky Link. We hope that this deal will be signed by the end of this year. This will allow us to significantly increase the effectiveness of our mobile development on the basis of Sky Link CDMA, 2G and 3G frequencies and licences.”
Last May, Rostelecom was reported to be looking at acquiring Sky Link with a view to merging it with other mobile assets.
Svyazinvest holds 100% of Sky Link and 43% of Rostelecom, while Rostelecom holds 25% plus one share in Svyazinvest.
