Airtel Gabon has been awarded a 3G licence by the telecoms regulator ARTEL, according to Gaboneco.
The contract of the concession was reportedly signed on 4 October.
Artel director Lin Mombo reportedly said that the regulator was also in talks to award a licence to other mobile providers Gabon Telecom, Moov and Azur.
Gabon Telecm provides mobile services through its unit Libertis and Moov is the owned by Etisalat’s Atlantique Telecom.
Neither the regulator nor the company was immediately available for comments.
