Private Equity firm Pemberton Capital Advisors has launched a E500m specialist investment fund with a focus on telecoms and financial services. The telecoms investments will be led by Jean-Pierre Vandromme, previously CEO of Russian fixed line operator Golden Telecom, which was acquired by Vimpelcom in late 2007 for US$4.2bn.
Speaking to TelecomFinance, Vandromme explained that the fund will concentrate on investments between E25m and E75m, although the fund does not rule out to allow its investors to co-investment in deals. As a result up to E150m could be put into target companies if necessary.
While not necessarily taking 100% in targets, it will be essential to have significant management input, he said.
Pemberton will focus on consolidating alternative providers with an ability to adopt new technologies and with a focus on SME customers.
Vandromme said Pemberton would aim to stay invested for four to six years, to build the companies. But an exit would also depend on the market climate.
A number of projects are already in the pipeline, according to Vandromme.
