The daughter of Angolan president Jose Eduardo dos Santos is interested in Zimbabwe’s state-owned mobile operator NetOne, the Zimbabwe Independent reports.
Isabel dos Santos reportedly met government officials in September with a view to buy a controlling stake in the operator and has already started the due diligence of the company.
Last April, MTN was reported to be in talks to buy a stake in NetOne, but it remains uncertain whether the South African operator has pulled out.
NetOne is the country’s smallest mobile by subscribers behind Econet Wireless and Telecel despite having been the first to receive its licence.
The parties were not immediately available for comment.
