Spanish incumbent Telefonica is set to announce the acquisition today of local cloud computing specialist Acens, TelecomFinance understands.
Telefonica declined to comment on the acquisition rumours, but a source close to the negotiations said a deal was likely to be completed today.
Local reports suggest a price tag of E75m-E80m for the group, which is controlled by PE firm Nazca.
The acquisition of Acens, which has a presence in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao, will help Telefonica consolidate more than 100 data centres it has across the world into just six, reports add.
Telefonica could reportedly invest a total E1.5bn to help it integrate these resources.
