The US satellite/terrestrial venture LightSquared is close to signing a deal to use Sprint Nextel’s network and equipment, according to media reports.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that LightSquared was near to a US$2bn-per-year agreement with Sprint Nextel, which would see LightSquared renting space on Sprint’s network in order to launch its own wireless services.
A LightSquared spokeswoman said it would not comment on rumours and speculation.
Sprint did not reply to questions before the press deadline.
