German incumbent Deutsche Telekom has acquired a stake in telemedicine services provider BodyTel via its venture capital unit T-Venture, TelecomFinance has confirmed.
A spokesperson for BodyTel declined to give further information.
According to its website, BodyTel provides monitoring tools to manage chronic conditions, including diabetes and blood pressure.
The company already partners with T-City, a joint workshop between Deutsche Telekom and the city of Friedrichshafen in Germany, for diabetes management.
According to T-City, the system documents the blood glucose values of a patient and alerts a person of trust via mobile communications or the Internet if the values differ greatly.
