He will be replaced by Simon Israel, who currently works as executive director, president and board member of Temasek. The Singaporean conglomerate owns a majority stake in SingTel. Israel has also been a non-executive and non-independent director of SingTel since 2003.

In the same statement, SingTel announced that Graham Bradley and Nicky Tan will step down as non-executive directors after the annual meeting.
The cellco also appointed Low Check Kian, chairman of private equity firm NewSmith Capital Partners, as a non-executive director.
