Leading Indian mobile operator may appoint a new deputy CEO, reports the Financial Express.
Atul Bindal, the current president of mobile services in India and South Asia may take on the number two role at the company’s international unit.
Working under international CEO Manoj Kohli, he would reportedly prepare to take over the top role enabling Kohli to return to the main group.
Bharti has two main businesses: India & South Asia, which includes Mobile Services, and International, which includes the African assets purchased from Kuwait’s Zain last year.
Bindal sits on Airtel’s board, and chairs its mobile management board.
In a recent interview with the Business Standard, Bindal said he saw 3G, gaming and enterprise services as the company’s main growth engines.
Bharti Airtel, which claimed to have 159 million subscribers at the end of February, could not be reached for comment by press time.
