Telekom Austria’s Croatian mobile unit Vipnet has agreed to buy the country’s largest cable operator B.net from BEWAG for E93m. The plan is to launch bundled packages comprising fixed net voice telephony, broadband, mobile communication and TV services.
Telekom Austria CEO Hannes Ametsreiter said: “Fixed-to-mobile convergence has turned into a fundamental business driver and represents an important strategic pillar for the Telekom Austria Group. The acquisition of a cable operator will enable Vipnet to profit from the expected strong growth of fixed net broadband, TV and convergent products and to position itself as convergent service provider on the Croatian market.” Triple-play operator B.net has 119,900 subscribers. In 2010, it posted E28.3m revenues and E8.2m EBITDA.
