Antitrust regulators approved French media and telecoms company Vivendi’s acquisition of GVT Holding, the holding company of fixed-line operator Global Village Telecom (GVT).
This approval by the Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Economica (CADE) comes a month after a similar decision by the telecoms regulator, finally closing the long-running deal.
Vivendi first acquired a 37.6% stake in GVT in November 2009. It then built up its stake, taking control of over 99% of the company by April 2010.
Spanish systems integrator Amper and US ICT provider eLandia have agreed to integrate their Brazilian operations in a share exchange involving their respective units, Medidata and Desca. ELandia acquired 79.7% of Medidata, while Amper acquired 85% (80% on a fully diluted basis) of eLandia through the issue of additional stock.
