France Telecom has not been on the receiving end of offers for its stake in local mobile business Mobistar, a spokesperson has confirmed.
“Further to market rumours concerning a possible public offer by France Telecom for Mobistar shares, France Telecom states that no such operation is ongoing,” the spokesperson said.
Mobistar, the country’s number two mobile operator behind Belgacom’s Proximus, is 52.9% owned by France Telecom.
A year ago, Mobistar bought KPN Belgium Business, the Dutch company’s B2B and carrier activities in Belgium, for E65m.
z Proposals for opening up the country’s cable networks have been put forward for European Commission consideration, after being agreed by the country’s competition authority. The cablecos involved are Telenet for Flanders, Brutele in Brussels and Tecteo in the French and German speaking parts of the country.
