Russian operators VimpelCom and MegaFon have received the approval of the competition regulator FAS to buy regional mobile operator New Telephone Company (NTC), according to media reports.
South Korea’s KT Corp owns 80% of NTC. It reportedly appointed Credit Suisse for the transaction. The operator could be worth US$500m.
NTC has reportedly 40% mobile market share.
