Azerbaijani mobile operators Azercell and Bakcell are close to receiving a 3G licence each, communications and IT minister Ali Abbasov was quoted saying in local media Trend.
Some technical issues have reportedly to be solved before the award of the licences, which is expected in the near future.
Azerfon is the only of the three mobile operators of the country to currently have a 3G licence. It launched its 3G services in 2010.
