Colombian state-owned telco ETB and Brazilian telco Oi are in talks on additional financing for the Colombian company, according to media reports.
Bogota council holds an 86.6% stake in ETB, which provides broadband, fixed-line and television services.
Bloomberg quoted the Secretary of Finance for Bogota council, Hector Zambrano, saying that ETB and Oi were in talks on the issue of getting additional financing so that the council does not have to sell its stake.
Zambrano also reportedly said that ETB is in talks with potential Korean investors to help finance ETB’s planned expansion.
According to the local Terra news website, Zambrano said earlier in July that ETB required CPs1,000bn (US$572m) to be invested over the next three years in order to avoid privatisation.
