Stella Handler, who this month stepped down as CEO of Israeli ISP 012 Smile, has quickly re-emerged as the new chairman of HOT Cable and MIRS Communications, according to a local source.
She will replace Dexter Goei and report to French businessman Patrick Drahi, who owns 45% of HOT via Cool Holdings.
According to local newspaper Globes, which last week predicted the move, Drahi was seeking a local expert able to represent him in areas including regulation.
Having overseen the recent acquisition of 012 Smile by cellco Partner Communications, which operates as Orange, Handler will presumably be expected to help integrate HOT’s own US$170m acquisition of MIRS, the country’s number four mobile operator. HOT is reportedly looking to add ISP and international calling to its offering.
Partner’s acquisition of 012 completed on March 3, and Handler resigned ten days later.
She was CEO of 012 Smile from 2007, and before that had also worked at Israeli incumbent Bezeq.
HOT could not be reached for comment.
