Incumbent France Telecom has not been on the receiving end of offers for its stake in Belgian mobile business Mobistar, a spokesperson has confirmed.
“Further to market rumours concerning a possible public offer by France Telecom for Mobistar shares, France Telecom states that no such operation is ongoing.”
This followed yesterday’s market rumours, noted by Dow Jones, that a sale was in process, with Mobistar shares jumping to E53.26 before falling back down to E48.58.
Mobistar, the country’s number two mobile operator behind Belgacom’s Proximus, is 52.9% owned by France Telecom.
A year ago, Mobistar bought KPN Belgium Business, the Dutch company’s B2B and carrier activities in Belgium, for E65m.
