Indian mobile operator Reliance Communications is struggling to sell 50,000 of the towers owned by its subsidiary Reliance Infratel, reports the Economic Times.
US based independent towerco American Tower is not interested, the newspaper says, since its Indian efforts are now completely focused on consolidating the towers it acquired from Essar Telecom Infrastructure.
RCom’s had agreed a tower merger between its subsidiary Reliance Infratel and GTL, but this collapsed last summer on alleged valuation differences. RCom has some US$7bn in net debt.
