Spanish telco Telefonica has appointed Goldman Sachs as adviser for the IPO of its call centre operation, Atento.
Based in Spain, Atento operates in 17 countries worldwide, including 11 in Latin America.
There are no confirmed details on whether all or part of Atento will be listed.
Telefonica has been looking to list all or part of Atento over the past few years. It was forced to call off a planned listing of 20% of Atento in 2008. Telefonica’s COO Julio Linares said at the time that the deal would have to wait until the market had improved.
In 2010, Telefonica was considering a US$1bn listing of Atento, which would be bulked up by the £50m acquisition of the UK call centre operation Ventura. But the discussions on this listing never reached a formal stage.
