Russian mobile broadband company Yota announced it has signed an agreement whereby the country’s four largest operators will use its LTE network.
National fixed-line operator Rostelecom and mobile operators MTS, VimpelCom and MegaFon will offer 4G services through Yota’s network.
Yota plans to roll out its LTE network to cover 70 million people in 180 cities by 2014.
In a release, it said that the agreement also provided the operators with an option to buy Yota shares in 2014.
VimpelCom PR Anna Aybasheva said the participants would be able to buy a 20% stake in Yota, but she declined to comment on financial terms. Other parties were not available before press time.
Yota offers mobile WiMAX services in Moscow, St Petersburg, Ufa, Sochi and Krasnodar.
