Spanish incumbent Telefonica is once again considering an exit from its call centre operation Atento, according to a stock market filing last week.
The operator is open to a sale or an IPO, it said without providing further details.
Last year, it was looking at a circa £1bn listing of Atento, which would be bulked up with a £50m acquisition of UK-based call centre operation Ventura, a subsidiary of local clothing retailer Next. However, the discussions never reached a formal stage.
At the time, it was reported that the money raised from the exit were to be used to finance M&A in emerging markets.
Telefonica has been trying to list a portion of Atento for some time. The company had to call off a planned flotation of a 20% stake in the group in 2008, with the then COO Julio Linares saying that such a move would have to wait until the market improved.
At the time, that stake had been valued at around E300m.
Telefonica was not available for comment by press time.
