The Syrian government will place a minimum reserve price of US$122m on the auction for its upcoming third mobile licence, according to reports citing a telecoms minister.
Mohammad Al-Jallali, deputy minister of telecommunications, is reportedly cited in local paper Syria Report outlining the plans.
Other reports suggest mobile operators Turkcell, France Telecom, Saudi Telecom Company, Etisalat and Qtel are all seeking to place bids.
The winner of the auction, which will reportedly take place on 12 April this year, will join incumbents MTN Syria and SyriaTel.
