The deadline to submit bids for the privatisation of a 51% stake in Telekom Srbija has been put off for a month to 21 March to allow potential investors to have more time to prepare their bids.
Deutsche Telekom, France Telekom, Telekom Austria, America Movil and Wind Telecom have bought the tender documents to take part in the process. A spokesperson at the finance ministry said Turkcell was also expected to buy the documents in the next few days.
The German incumbent is rumoured to be advised by Goldman Sachs, while Telekom Austria is thought to work with Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
The government has set at E1.4bn the minimum price for the 51% stake.
If the authorities receive several offers, an auction will take place in front of television cameras.
Serbia owns 80% of the telecoms incumbent, while Deutsche Telekom-owned OTE controls the rest.
