Finnish alternative operator DNA has announced plans to merge operations with local cableco SWelcom Television after acquiring the group for a reported E200m on 1 July.
Welho has been operating independently from DNA since its operations were acquired from Finnish media group Sanoma.
“In our opinion, only the genuine merger of separate organisations will create a basis for a shared corporate culture, while enabling us to capitalise on the strengths of both businesses on a broad scale,” said DNA CEO Riitta Tiuraniemi
“This organisational merger will be of particular importance to our broadband and television businesses, in which Welho’s expertise will further reinforce our operations.”
According to DNA, the group gained a 43% share of Finland’s cable TV market and an 18% share of its fixed-network broadband services through acquiring Welho. DNA’s share in the country’s mobile communications services remained unchanged at 25%.
