Proinversion, a government agency that promotes private investment, has said that it will award 25MHz of spectrum in the 1,900MHz band on Thursday, according to media reports.
BN Americas reported yesterday that the head of Proinversion’s telecommunications project, Jesus Guillen, said that four operators had expressed an interest in the licences. He also said that the price of the band was flexible.
Guillen told TelecomFinance that the sale was aimed at bringing in a fourth operator to the Peruvian market and increasing competition.
The Peruvian government attempted to award this spectrum last year, but failed to attract any bidders.
