The Costa Rican telecoms regulator Sutel could hold a second auction for spectrum that is left unsold in its current bidding process, reported BN Americas.
Only two companies – Telefonica and Claro – bid for spectrum in Sutel’s first auction. A A Sutel spokeswoman told TelecomFinance that several other companies had expressed an interest, including Tigo (a subsidiary of the Luxembourg-based telco Millicom), Digicel and Cable & Wireless.
The first auction was for spectrum in the 850MHz, 1,800MHz and 2,100MHz bands.
