French mobile operators Bouygues Telecom and SFR have announced a co-investment agreement to deploy fibre-optic infrastructure in certain municipalities in high-density areas.
In a release, the companies said the agreement would allow them to accelerate and extend the deployment of the FTTH infrastructure.
SFR has already commercially launched FTTH services in several municipalities, while Bouygues Telecom plans to launch its own services in the second half of 2011.
In a release, telecoms regulator ARCEP said it welcomed the agreement between Bouygues Telecom and SFR.
The regulator also said that it would soon adopt a decision to define the main rules governing ultra-fast broadband FTTH rollouts in the entire country, outside of high-density areas.
