Swiss mobile operator Sunrise could still merge with local rival Orange Switzerland, Sunrise chairman Dominik Koechlin has told Handelszeitung.
In an interview with the paper, he said he could not rule out renewed talks with the France Telecom unit, despite a previous merger attempt ? announced a year ago – being vetoed by Swiss competition authorities this year.
He said he believed that the Swiss authority could be open to reconsidering such a transaction.
In September, Danish incumbent TDC sold Sunrise to private equity firm CVC in a E2.5bn LBO.
TDC, itself private equity owned, is due to list in December.
