Spanish incumbent Telefonica plans to launch an MVNO through its social network division Tuenti over the coming weeks, reported local publication Expansion.
The group acquired 86% of Tuenti in August for approximately E75m, and is reportedly seeking to launch a low-cost service through the site to reach its 14-20-year-old target market.
According to a translation of the report, the MVNO will be called Tuentimóvil, and will charge Tuenti mobile users approximately four cents a minute to call each other. Calls to other operators will cost eight cents a minute.
Telefonica and Tuenti were unable to comment before the press deadline.
