Three companies have expressed an interest in the privatisation of Ukraine’s Ukrtelecom, Telegeography reports quoting the State Property Fund (SPF).
Russian group Sistema, which owns MTS Ukraine, and local firm SCM, which owns fixed-line operator Vega and co-own mobile operator Astelit, are reportedly looking at the telecoms incumbent. The SPF reportedly said that there was a third potential bidder from outside the CIS region.
A rule preventing companies with at least 25% of state ownership from taking part in the deal limits the number of potential candidates as many European incumbents which could have been potential candidates are excluded.
The SPF plans to hold an auction on December 28 to sell the state’s 92.8% stake in the telecoms incumbent. The starting price has been set at Hr10.5bn (E948m).
Ukraine has reportedly hired Millennium Capital as adviser for the privatisation.
