Robert Bell, executive director at ground system trade group World Teleport Association (WTA), has joined the Connectivity Business Summit 2022 speaker faculty to moderate the panel discussion “Core connectivity sector roundup and review: Oil & Gas, Maritime, Aviation and other verticals” on Tuesday, June 14, at 3:15 p.m. ET.

WTA developed the first certification program for teleports, which assesses their facilities, technology and operating procedures to promote excellence in quality with four tiers of certification. “It offers a competitive differentiator for service providers while giving customers a transparent way to strike the price-performance balance that best serves their needs,” Bell said.
The association also offers webinars and publishes regular reports based on interviews with member executives. Its next report will cover pros and cons of the low Earth orbit (LEO) gateway business.
During COVID-19, many gateway operators reduced services offered but found that business increased. “It’s a scary thing in a services business to reduce, if you will, the services that you’re providing — and yet in this case, you have this paradoxical result, which is that it gets done faster,” Bell said during the webinar “Smarter Selling in a Virtual World.”
