Bharti Airtel, India’s largest mobile phone operator with over 140 million subscribers, is reported to be in talks with other Indian operators to form an alliance for the deployment of its 3G network.
The Hindu Business Line claims that Bharti Airtel was in discussions with Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular. The alliance is required to enable the operators to provide national coverage, as none of the operators have 3G licenses in all of India’s regions.
