Thai state-owned telco CAT Telecom has filed a legal complaint in an attempt to block the 3G licence auction process, according to media reports.
It argues that the issuance of regulations for the 3G licence auction is against the constitution. More specifically, it claims that the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) does not have the authority to grant the frequency spectrum and that parts of the regulations would create unfair competition, local reports wrote.
A Thai court has accepted the CAT Telecom application and will summon members of the NTC in the next few days. But it rejected a request for an emergency hearing.
In the meantime, the NTC announced that Advanced Info Service (AIS), Total Access Communication (TAC) and True Corp have qualified to participate in the 3G auction, scheduled for September 20.
