The Hungarian government expects to complete the sale of a fourth and final 450MHz licence this year, and is open to selling a fourth 900 MHz licence as soon as this year as well, reports Reuters citing index.hu.
A senior executive at regulator National Media and Communications Authority told the news portal that the Hungarian government has already factored in a 20 bn forint (US$90m) revenue line into its budget for this year. The sale, he said, could be carried out via tender or auction.
Over the summer, the country?s National Development Ministry stated plans to sell a fourth mobile licence while also voicing its desire too increase the take-up of broadband internet.
Currently, Hungary has three mobile operators: Deutsche Telekom-owned Magyar Telekom, Vodafone Hungary and Telenor Hungary.
