South Africa-based mobile operator MTN has said that it will not be listing its Iranian unit, MTN Irancell, or reducing its 49% shareholding in the company in the foreseeable future.
Phuthuma Nhleko, MTN’s CEO was speaking at an investor conference call discussing MTN’s H1 2010 earnings report.
Irancell is a JV between MTN International and the state-owned Iran Electronic Development Company.
NTN’s group revenue decreased by 2.2% to R56bn (US$7.6bn) while EBITDA decreased by 1.1% to R24.2bn (US$3.3bn).
