Vodafone New Zealand is close to acquiring local retail chain First Mobile, one of its two retail partners, according to the NZ Herald.
The company reportedly signed a conditional agreement that would see First Mobile, with 77 stores across New Zealand, become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vodafone.
Under the terms of the deal, 32 of the First Mobile stores will be run directly by Vodafone, while the remaining 45 will be managed by franchisees, explains the NZ Herald.
Vodafone’s other retail partner in New Zealand is DigiMobile, in which the company owns a 25% stake.
Vodafone New Zealand was not available for comment by press time.
