Bharti Airtel plans to invest US$10m in newly-acquired Telecom Seychelles and wants to take part in the Seychelles East Africa submarine cable (SEAS) project, the Economic Times of India reports.
The SEAS project, worth US$34m, aims to link Seychelles to Tanzania’s capital city, Dar es Salaam.
The Indian operator announced earlier this month that it would acquire 100% of Telecom Seychelles for about Rs2.89bn (US$62m).
