UK-based enterprise telco Cable&Wireless Worldwide has opened a new Middle East & Africa regional headquarters in Dubai Internet City (DIC).
The company, which earlier this year demerged from Cable&Wireless Communications, stated that the move follows its deployment of an extensive telecommunications network (MPLS) across the Middle East in 2008. This included Points of Presences (PoPs) in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, connecting customers based in the UAE back into the MPLS network. Since this deployment, Cable&Wireless Worldwide has been providing connectivity to global enterprise customers including HSBC, the company said.
C&W Worldwide said its next-generation network would provide improved services and support to meet the needs of its enterprise customers moving operations to the Middle East. Furthermore, the services will also enable C&W Worldwide’s customers to route increased levels of data traffic in the EMEA region, where internet usage is expected to grow substantially.

Ghassan Latif has been appointed to lead C&W Worldwide’s efforts in the region.
