Mexico’s regulator has rejected Iusacell’s appeal against the award of the licence for the recently-auctioned tranches of 1.7GHz and 1.9GHz spectrum.
Iusacell had attempted to stop the transfer of the block of spectrum to Nextel/Televisa who had won the auction in a one bid competition.
However, the Mexican Ministry of Communications and Transport said: “As soon as it receives legal notification, the department and Cofetel [the Mexican telecoms regulator] shall evaluate all means of defence”
